An elephant. Dumbo is a baby elephant with enormous ears. He is the main character of Disney's fourth animated movie, Dumbo (1941). Despite being teased for his big ears at first, Dumbo discovers they allow him to fly! The movie is famous for being just 64 minutes long, making it one of Disney's shortest feature films.

They are very big and let him fly. Dumbo's oversized ears are so large that he can use them like wings to soar through the air. With the help of his friend Timothy Q. Mouse and a "magic feather," Dumbo learns to believe in himself and becomes the star of the circus. His story teaches us that what makes us different also makes us special.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Ariel is a mermaid princess who lives in an underwater kingdom called Atlantica. She has a beautiful singing voice and is fascinated by the human world above the ocean. The Little Mermaid (1989) is credited with starting the Disney Renaissance, a decade of amazing animated films that brought Disney back to its glory.

The Genie. In Disney's Aladdin, the Genie does not have a specific name — he is simply called "the Genie." Mickey Mouse's pet dog. Pluto is a yellow-orange dog who is Mickey's loyal companion. Unlike Goofy, who walks on two legs and wears clothes, Pluto acts like a regular dog — he walks on four legs, barks, and does not speak. Pluto made his debut in 1930 and is one of Disney's oldest characters.

A blue sailor suit. Donald Duck wears a blue sailor shirt with a red bow tie and a blue sailor hat, but no pants! Honey. Winnie the Pooh, also called Pooh Bear or just Pooh, absolutely loves honey. He spends much of his time thinking about honey, looking for honey, and eating honey from beehives high up in trees. His famous line is "Oh, bother!" which he says whenever things do not go as planned.

Piglet. Piglet is a small, pink pig who is Pooh's very best friend in the Hundred Acre Wood. He is timid and nervous but always tries to be brave when his friends need him. Despite his small size, Piglet has a big heart and proves that courage comes in all sizes.

A pig. Piglet is a very small pig with light pink skin and a striped pink jumper. He lives in a house shaped like a tree with a sign that says "Trespassers Will" — the rest of the sign broke off, but Piglet says it was short for "Trespassers William," which was his grandfather's name!

Tigger. Tigger is a bouncy, orange tiger with black stripes and a springy tail. He loves to bounce everywhere he goes and has a bouncy, energetic personality. His most famous song is "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers," where he explains that "the wonderful thing about Tiggers is I'm the only one!"

Bounce on his tail. Tigger's favorite activity is bouncing high into the air using his powerful striped tail as a spring. He bounces on his tail everywhere he goes, sometimes landing with a loud "boing!" Tigger even offers to teach Eeyore how to bounce, though the donkey is not very interested.

Eeyore. Eeyore is a gray donkey known for being gloomy, pessimistic, and slow-moving. He often says things like "Thanks for noticing me" and "Oh, well." Despite his sad demeanor, Eeyore is a loyal friend to Pooh and everyone in the Hundred Acre Wood. His tail is held on by a small pink bow.

His tail. Eeyore's tail keeps falling off because the nail holding it comes loose. In fact, the entire plot of the 2011 Winnie the Pooh movie revolves around Pooh and his friends trying to find a replacement tail for Eeyore. His tail is eventually reattached with the help of Christopher Robin.

Tinker Bell. Tinker Bell is a tiny fairy who accompanies Peter Pan on his adventures in Neverland. She glows with a bright green light and communicates through the sound of bells. Though she cannot speak words, her feelings are always clear. Tinker Bell has become so popular that she has her own series of movies and is the official mascot of Disney!

Neverland. Neverland is a magical island where children never grow up. It is home to mermaids, pirates, fairies, and the Lost Boys. In Neverland, you can fly by thinking happy thoughts and sprinkling a little fairy dust. Captain Hook and his pirates are always trying to catch Peter Pan there!

Captain Hook. Captain Hook is the main villain in Peter Pan. He is a pirate captain with an iron hook replacing his right hand, which was eaten by a crocodile. The crocodile also swallowed a clock, so Hook always hears a ticking sound when the crocodile is near. He is one of Disney's most famous bad guys!

A rabbit. Thumper is a young rabbit (also called a bunny or kit) with soft gray fur and a fluffy white tail. He gets his name from the way he thumps his large back foot on the ground to make noise. In Bambi, Thumper teaches Bambi how to say his first words and how to walk on slippery ice.

A skunk. Flower is a sweet, shy little skunk who becomes one of Bambi's best friends in the forest. He has soft black fur with a white stripe running down his back. Despite being a skunk, Flower is gentle and kind, and his name comes from Bambi accidentally calling him "Flower" when they first meet in a patch of flowers.

A kind fairy with a magic wand. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother is a sweet, grandmotherly fairy who appears when Cinderella has lost all hope. She carries a magic wand that sparkles with starlight and uses the magic words "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" to transform Cinderella's rags into a beautiful ball gown and a pumpkin into a carriage.

A pumpkin. The Fairy Godmother uses her magic wand to transform an ordinary pumpkin into a beautiful golden carriage pulled by horses who were once mice. The magic only lasts until midnight, when everything turns back to what it was before — which is why Cinderella must leave the ball before the clock strikes twelve!

Her glass slipper. As Cinderella runs from the ball at midnight, one of her glass slippers falls off on the palace steps. The Prince finds the slipper and declares he will marry the girl it fits. He visits every house in the kingdom until he finds Cinderella, and of course, the slipper fits her perfectly!

Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Princess Aurora is cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep. She can only be awakened by true love's kiss. The movie Sleeping Beauty came out in 1959 and features some of Disney's most beautiful animation ever created.

Prince Phillip with true love's kiss. After Aurora pricks her finger and falls asleep, Prince Phillip battles through thorn bushes and fights the evil Maleficent (who has turned into a dragon!) to reach the sleeping princess. His kiss of true love breaks the curse and wakes her up. This "true love's kiss" moment has become one of the most classic Disney scenes.

Flounder. Flounder is a bright yellow and blue fish who is Ariel's best friend in The Little Mermaid. Despite his name, he is not actually a flounder — he is more like a tropical fish! Flounder is sometimes nervous but always stays by Ariel's side, even when she makes risky decisions.

Green. Ariel has a shimmering green mermaid tail that sparkles in the sunlight. Her bright red hair and green tail make her one of the most visually striking Disney princesses. The animators chose red hair to make Ariel stand out from other mermaid characters and to contrast beautifully with her green tail and the blue ocean.

Rajah. Rajah is Princess Jasmine's loyal pet tiger in Aladdin. He is a large, powerful tiger who is very protective of Jasmine and often growls at anyone he does not trust, like the evil Jafar. Despite his fierce appearance, Rajah is gentle and loving with Jasmine and eventually becomes friends with Aladdin too.

A magic carpet. Jasmine and Aladdin take a magical ride on a flying carpet during the famous song "A Whole New World." The carpet has a friendly face embroidered on it and can fly at incredible speeds. It takes them to see sparkling cities, ancient pyramids, and shooting stars — all without any seatbelts!

Mulan. Fa Mulan disguises herself as a man to take her elderly father's place in the Chinese army. She becomes one of the greatest warriors in China's history and saves the entire country from invaders. Mulan (1998) is unique because it is based on a Chinese legend, not a traditional fairy tale.

Mushu. Mushu is a small, fast-talking dragon who is sent by Mulan's ancestors to help and protect her on her journey. He is voiced by Eddie Murphy and provides much of the movie's comedy. Mushu may be small, but he has a huge personality and is fiercely loyal to Mulan.

Merida from Brave. Merida is a Scottish princess with wild, curly red hair who is an expert archer. Unlike many other Disney princesses, Merida does not want to get married — she wants to choose her own path in life. Brave (2012) was Pixar's first film with a female protagonist.

There is not a Hawaiian princess, but Lilo is from Hawaii. Lilo is the main character of Lilo & Stitch (2002), which takes place on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. She is not an official Disney Princess, but she is one of the most beloved Disney heroines. Lilo lives with her older sister Nani and adopts an alien named Stitch who becomes her best friend.

Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Tiana is Disney's first African American princess. She is a hardworking waitress in 1920s New Orleans who dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her story is based on the fairy tale "The Frog Prince," but with a fun twist — Tiana herself turns into a frog!

To open a restaurant. Tiana dreams of owning her own restaurant called "Tiana's Place," just like her father always wanted. She works two jobs and saves every penny to make her dream come true. Her story teaches us that hard work and determination can help us achieve anything we set our minds to.

Tiana (and Prince Naveen). In The Princess and the Frog, both Tiana and Prince Naveen are turned into frogs by a voodoo spell. To become human again, they must find a way to break the curse through true love. The movie is set in beautiful New Orleans and features jazz music and colorful animation inspired by the city.

Moana. Moana is the brave daughter of a Polynesian chief who sails across the ocean to save her island. She is not a traditional princess — she is a chief's daughter who becomes a great wayfinder (navigator). Moana (2016) features stunning ocean animation and the hit song "How Far I'll Go."

Marlin. Marlin is a careful, loving clownfish father who travels across the entire ocean to rescue his son Nemo after he is captured by scuba divers. Along the way, Marlin learns to be brave and to trust others, especially his forgetful but loyal friend Dory. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2004.

She forgets things quickly. Dory has short-term memory loss, which means she forgets things almost immediately after they happen. Despite this challenge, she remains cheerful, optimistic, and kind. Her most famous line is "Just keep swimming," which has become a popular motivational phrase. Dory is voiced by Ellen DeGeneres.

Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) has super strength, Helen Parr (Elastigirl) can stretch her body, Violet can create force fields and turn invisible, Dash can run super fast, and baby Jack-Jack has multiple surprising powers. Together, they are the Incredibles!

A red race car. Lightning McQueen is a shiny red stock car with the number 95 painted on his sides. He starts out as an arrogant young racer who only cares about winning, but during the movie Cars, he learns the importance of friendship and community. The number 95 is a reference to the year the first Toy Story came out: 1995.

Carl Fredricksen's house. In Up (2009), Carl attaches thousands of colorful helium balloons to his house and flies it all the way to South America to fulfill a promise to his late wife, Ellie. The movie's opening montage, which tells Carl and Ellie's life story, is considered one of the most emotional scenes in any animated film.

A big blue monster with purple spots. James P. "Sulley" Sullivan is a large, furry, turquoise-blue monster with dark purple spots all over his body. He is the top scarer at Monsters, Inc., but he is actually a gentle giant who cares deeply about his friends. Sulley's best friend is Mike Wazowski, a tiny green one-eyed monster.

A green one-eyed monster. Mike Wazowski is a small, round, bright green monster with a single large eye, tiny horns, and skinny arms and legs. He is Sulley's best friend and the jokester of Monsters, Inc. Mike may not be scary, but he is loyal, funny, and one of Pixar's most popular characters.

Boo. Boo is a cute two-year-old human girl who sneaks into the monster world through her closet door. Sulley nicknames her "Boo" and becomes very protective of her. Collecting and compacting trash. WALL-E is a small waste-collecting robot who has been cleaning up garbage on a polluted Earth for 700 years. His love for an old movie musical teaches him about holding hands.

Finding plant life on Earth. EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) is a sleek white robot sent from a spaceship to search for signs of plant life on Earth. When WALL-E shows her a small plant he found, she realizes Earth might be habitable again. EVE's name is pronounced "Eve," like the first woman in the Bible story.

"Let It Go." "Let It Go" is the powerful anthem Elsa sings when she embraces her ice powers and builds her ice castle on the North Mountain. The song was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2014. Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, performed it at the Oscars.

"Hakuna Matata." "Hakuna Matata" is a Swahili phrase that means "no worries." Timon (a meerkat) and Pumbaa (a warthog) sing this catchy song to teach Simba how to relax and enjoy a carefree life. The song was nominated for an Academy Award and became one of the most popular songs from The Lion King.

"Part of Your World." "Part of Your World" is the song Ariel sings in her underwater grotto, surrounded by her collection of human treasures. "A Whole New World." "A Whole New World" is the romantic ballad Aladdin and Jasmine sing while flying on the magic carpet over the city of Agrabah and beyond.
